A Really COOL Science Project

Things you will need for this experiment: food coloring, pie tin or 9x9 baking pan, dish soap, and milk

pour enough milk in the bottom of the pan to cover the entire bottom of pan

squirt a couple drops of each food coloring bottle in the middle of your pan
Add a drop or two of dish soap and watch what happens.
Now go and do it!

Another super fun freezer paper stencil

This is my newest stencil and I LOVE IT!!!!! I have been wanting to make an owl stencil for such a long time and now here it is! It wasn't the easiest stencil I have cut out, but it was all worth it in the end. Maybe I should sell on Etsy?

S'mores Chocolate Covered Brownie Balls, recipe by Katrina

1 box 9x13 brownies mix, made according to directions, cooled (you only need about 9x9 size of them, this way you'll have some leftover for snacking! ;)

1 package graham crackers, finely ground crumbs

5 ounces marshmallows

2 tablespoons butter

12 oz. chocolate chips

1 tablespoon shortening

candy sprinkles, for decoration

Make brownies according to package directions. Cool completely. Pulse graham crackers in a food processor until fine crumbs. Crumble brownies into food processor and pulse together with graham cracker crumbs. Melt together butter and marshmallows in pot on stove . Put the brownie and graham cracker mixture into a large bowl. Add the melted marshmallow and stir together with a wooden spoon.

Make about 1 inch balls of mixture and set on a wax paper lined baking sheet. Freeze for about an hour. Melt chocolate chips in microwave safe dish in 20-30 second intervals. When melted and smooth, add shortening. Dip brownies balls completely into chocolate by setting one on a spoon. Slide off the spoon with a fork onto waxed paper. Sprinkle each immediately after dipping. Let set. For a quick set, set baking sheet in freezer or refrigerator. Upon serving or giving these away, set each one into candy size liners. Makes about 30.

*This recipe is not from me, but from another Katrina. They are super yummy!

Freezer paper Stencils

So I have been dying to use freezer paper stencils, but just never really got around to it. It is super simple, and a lot of fun. All you need is: Freezer paper, a design you would like to use, and something to cut out your design. Before Christmas, one of David's friends came out to visit us. He was just about to graduate from LA's Art Design School, and we asked if he would design some stencils for us to use on the girls jeep. Well the jeep never got stenciled, but as I was looking up stenciling yesterday I found the stencils Steve had made us, and thought I would try one out on a shirt of Lizzie's. I thought it turned out pretty cute. Lizzie calls it her pirate shirt, and she is excited to show it to everyone. Thanks again Steve for your amazing skillz!

It's Garden Time at The Parkers

This year I wanted a garden so we dug a good amount of weeds out of our backyard and made a spot for a garden. We planted tomatoes, yellow squash, Zucchini squash, watermelon, cantaloupe, green peppers, and corn. David finished planting the corn today, and Lizzie wanted to be right by his side. Hopefully we get a good crop this year.

My gift to my mom

I have been seeing this mothers quote all over the Internet lately, and I just think it sums up what I think about my mom. I got to spend sometime with my mom on Thursday before she left for Utah, and she loved the quote, and it even brought tears to her eyes. I also got her some Knott's Berry Farm shortbread cookies, and I made her a super yummy frozen pie. She was in Heaven and had a wonderful Mother's Day before she left. I love you mom. Thanks so much for all you have done for me to make me the woman I am today. I love you!

Mother's Day Gift for the Nursery

This year I wanted something special for my kids to give their mommies so I did a lot of searching on Bing. I keep coming across hand print artwork, but nothing just struck my fancy. Ss I combined a couple of crafts and made my own. The mommies LOVED their gifts, and I got a ton of compliments at Church. Hooray for fun crafts!

One of my FAVORITE things

You know when you just have a REALLY bad day, and nothing is going your way? Life seems to be coming to an end. I just LOVE when I get a random kiss or hug from my girls. They know Mommy is grumpy and that she needs some love. They will come up and kiss and hug me, and tell me I'm their favorite. I love those moments in life. It makes that day not seem so bad. Thanks goodness for sticky slobbery kisses.

Great Sunday Story

We were sitting in Sacrament Meeting, and Lizzie was playing with David. An older man went up to stand and proceeded with his testimony. Halfway through his testimony Lizzie turns to David and says, "That apostle is bearing his testimony. " David was confused and asked her what he was saying. She pointed to Brother May and repeated her comment, "That apostle is bearing his testimony!" David starts laughing I ask him what happened he proceeds to tell me Lizzie's comment. By this time we are both laughing. David informs Lizzie that he is just an older man with gray hair. Lizzie then looks at David and doesn't believe him. After Church I went up to Bro. May and informed him that Lizzie believes him to be an apostle.. He starts to chuckle, and then says," Well we know Lizzie isn't a prophet". It made his day, and Lizzie still believes he is an apostle.
