So tonight we tried out Lizzie's NEW BIG GIRL BED!!!! She didn't like being in there all by herself and she just screamed at the door. So David and I took turns laying in there with her. We tried ignoring her but that didn't work she just wanted to play the whole time. Her clothes are everywhere, she must have gotten in and out of bed a million times, drank 3 bottles full of water (she NEVER even drinks more than an ounce while in her crib), she uses her bed as a trampoline, and tried to do David's hair. So after an hour and half of playtime she went back into her crib, and within minutes she is asleep! This is so frustrating!!!
So Mom's in the blogging world I need your help!!! Any advice with how to get kids to transfer to BIG KID BEDS?
*Who thought transfering beds would be such a BIG DEAL to her. She wanted her crib since day 1, and now doesn't want to give it up!

Leave her in the crib! I know that you are having another baby soon but don't you have a portable crib or bassinet that you can use? Try to ease her into the big girl bed slowly and mayde only during nap time at first. She has to get used to it!! Have patience and don't rush her! Her life is changing too :)
Chloe's been in a big girl bed for close to a year and she'll still nap on the ground- go figure. At night it's too dark so she doesn't like getting out of bed but "nap time" she plays for awhile. For the clothes, we bought child locks for her dresser. We also have a child lock on the door so she can't get out.
how funny we just tried jackson's big boy bed last night for the first time too. During the day we went in there and just played, and then I rocked J to sleep when it was time for bed, and then layed him in the bed. That worked for me. I really hope she starts to like it soon.
Either bribe her or give her harsh consequences for getting out of bed. Put up a baby gate in her doorway. DO NOT go in with her or she'll get used to that. Just let her cry for a few nights and she'll eventually get that she's supposed to sleep in her bed. And she might not always end up in the bed in the beginning, sometimes on the floor, and the clothes will come out of the dresser, there's no getting around that. But the most important thing is to be consistent. If you go in with her, she'll expect it, and you don't want to have to do that every night! Stick to one thing and she'll get it.
